SERENE TRANSFORMATION
This primary bedroom was designed as a true retreat—a place to exhale at the end of the day and fully settle into this next chapter of life. With their children grown and out of the home, our clients were finally ready to invest in the spaces that mattered most to them. They wanted a bedroom that felt calm, layered, and quietly luxurious, without feeling precious or overdone.
The transformation began with a careful edit of the existing furnishings. A traditional four-poster bed was replaced with a more comfortable, tailored tufted upholstered bed that immediately softened the room and set a more relaxed tone. Larger nightstands with integrated storage were introduced, providing both visual balance and much-needed functionality. These changes alone made the room feel more grounded, inviting, and truly designed for everyday comfort. Brass sconces were added with a wall switch to eliminate the need for lamps.
Drawing from the client’s inspiration imagery, traditional wainscoting was added to bring timeless character and cohesiveness to the space. Wall-to-wall carpeting was replaced with hardwood flooring to create continuity with the rest of the home, instantly elevating the overall feel. A rich blue linen fabric became the emotional anchor for the design, informing the palette and guiding the selection of furnishings throughout. Underfoot, a plush wool rug adds warmth and softness—perfect for slow mornings and quiet evenings.
Inverted pleat drapery with blackout lining finishes the windows, offering privacy, light control, and a sense of gently closing the door on the outside world. Off camera, we divided an oversized closet into a functional home office, complete with a new wall of bookshelves that now serves as a focal point when viewed from inside the bedroom. This thoughtful addition allows the space to support both rest and productivity without compromising the bedroom’s serene feel.
The result is a primary suite that feels deeply personal and intentionally designed—an elegant retreat that reflects where the clients are now, and how they want to live moving forward.
